About the Guild
A professional organization for responsible gemstone and jewellery trade.
The Canadian Gem Trade Guild supports gemstone suppliers, jewellery businesses and interested buyers through structured membership, verification and submission processes. Approved members can submit gemstone and jewellery offerings to the Guild, and the Guild works to identify suitable opportunities based on buyer interest and market demand.
When a suitable opportunity arises, the Guild may introduce the supplier or jewellery business to a prospective buyer. After an introduction, the parties can communicate directly and determine whether to proceed with a private transaction.

Our Role
We help create opportunities — without controlling private transactions.
The Guild works to do its best to connect members with relevant opportunities as market demand arises. If a submission does not attract interest, we may work with the supplier to improve how the offering is presented, including discussing factors such as pricing, available information, presentation or documentation.
What the Guild Does
- Verifies approved supplier identity and business information.
- Provides an approved member with a digital membership card.
- Guides members through the submission process.
- Reviews gemstone submissions and supporting information.
- Works to identify suitable buyer opportunities as they arise.
- May introduce a member to a prospective buyer when a suitable opportunity exists.
- May help members improve the presentation of an offering when buyer interest is limited.
- Requires appropriate certification or supporting documentation for gemstones the Guild purchases for its own specific needs.
What the Guild Does Not Do
- Operate a public marketplace or public inventory of member goods.
- Guarantee a specific number of introductions, inquiries, transactions or sales.
- Set or guarantee a supplier's price.
- Negotiate or complete private transactions on behalf of suppliers or buyers.
- Guarantee the actions, payment, products or representations of another party.
- Take a supplier commission on a private transaction resulting from a Guild introduction.
Supplier responsibility: Members are responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of the information, descriptions, certifications and documentation they provide. The Guild can help improve presentation, but cannot make an inaccurate or misleading submission accurate.
How It Works
